About AIDSLaw

Who We Are
AIDSLaw of Louisiana, Inc. is a Louisiana not-for-profit corporation formed in 1989 to provide free legal services to low-income persons living with HIV and AIDS. AIDSLaw is the only organization in the state dedicated to addressing the legal needs of the affected community and has served more than 10,000 residents.
Mission Statement:
The mission of AIDSLaw is to provide excellent, specialized legal services for people living with HIV/AIDS in Louisiana, to improve their quality of life and access to health care, related to their HIV/AIDS status.
Our History
We have been serving the legal needs of those affected by HIV/AIDS for more than 20 years. With offices in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, as well as regular visits throughout the state, we are the only statewide AIDS service organization and the only legal aid service focused on HIV and AIDS in the South. In the fall of 2012 AIDSLaw of Louisiana merged with NO/AIDS Task Force, becoming a program of NO/AIDS.
AIDSLaw Services
AIDSLaw of Louisiana, Inc. provides free assistance with HIV-related legal problems.
In addition to the issues of estate planning, HIV infection makes it important for you to think about several other issues, such as confidentiality and discrimination, child custody, and insurance and financial planning.
The AIDSLaw staff can provide you with additional information on these subjects and, when necessary, refer you to an HIV-sensitive and experienced attorney. If you are unable to afford an attorney, we will arrange for you to see one on a reduced or no-cost basis.
